The Fine Art of Bed-making

Tengri and prestigious bed maker, Savoir Beds, have developed a bespoke edition of one of the world’s finest beds.

The ‘Savoir Nº1 Khangai’ topper and mattress system features Tengri’s Noble Fibres, hand-combed from the indigenous yaks of Mongolia’s Khangai region.

We look closely at the provenance of the carefully selected materials we use, so we’re hugely excited about our collaboration with Tengri.
— Alistair Hughes, Managing Director, Savoir Beds

Every Savoir Nº1 bed is made by a single craftsperson at Savoir’s London workshop, using techniques requiring time and skills now beyond the reach of other bed manufacturers – it takes a total of 120 hours to create one bed.

The Savoir Nº1 Khangai mattress is filled with extra-deep, high-turn pocket springs and double layers of Tengri Noble Fibres. Above this, a sumptuous topper incorporates four kilogrammes of Tengri Noble Fibres, which encase two layers of premium horse tail curled around a lambswool core.

The hardwood beech frame for each Nº1 is tailor-made for the client – measured, hand-cut and sanded to perfection, the bed's frame is finished with a contrasting walnut or Macassar ebony trim. Each seven-and-a-half-turn pocket spring is encased in soft calico, then hand tied for independent movement.
